The short answer
Kia cars in Dubai use maintenance-free batteries from about 35Ah in a Picanto to around 90Ah in a Carnival, with AGM on models that have Idle Stop and Go. Arjan Battery tests your Kia where it is parked in Arjan or elsewhere in Dubai, tells you plainly if the battery is still good, and fits a new one on the spot if it is not.
A Kia battery in Arjan rarely dies on the motorway. It dies in the basement, after a week of short drives or a fortnight of not being driven at all. That pattern matters, because a battery that is only discharged can often be saved, and one that has lost its cranking strength cannot. The test at the car tells the two apart.

Six things that shorten a Kia battery's life
- Fitting a standard battery in a car with Idle Stop and Go. It works for a while, then stop-start quits and the battery fades.
- Fitting a lower capacity than the car was built with because it happened to be on the shelf.
- Leaving the hold-down clamp loose. Vibration breaks up the plates inside the case.
- Unplugging the battery sensor on the negative terminal and forgetting to plug it back in.
- Ignoring a slow start during the cooler months. The first hot week of summer finishes the battery.
- Jump starting again and again without finding out why the battery went flat.
Two Kia models keep the battery in the boot
On the Stinger and the K900 the battery is in the boot, not under the bonnet, which helps weight balance and keeps it away from engine heat. Both have jump points in the engine bay, so a flat car can be started without unloading luggage. Tell us the model and we bring the tools for the boot trim.
Basement parking, short trips and dashcams
Many Kia cars in Arjan live in tower basements such as Lincoln Park, Green Diamond or the Vincitore buildings and cover short distances: the school run, the supermarket, a drive along Hessa Street. With the AC on full, a ten-minute trip takes more from the battery than the alternator returns, and the battery spends its life half charged.
Hard-wired dashcams add to it. Some newer Kia models show a warning about battery discharge from external devices when a camera in parking mode draws power overnight. If you see that message, or the car stood for two weeks while you travelled, ask for battery testing before buying anything. A battery that is only discharged can often be recovered with a jump start and a long drive.
A Kia battery callout in Arjan, start to finish
Kia: Model by model
- Kia Picanto
- The smallest Kia battery, usually around 35 to 40Ah. With so little reserve, a few days of interior lights or a dashcam left on is enough to flatten it.
- Kia Rio
- A compact battery of about 45Ah under the bonnet. The tray is sized for it exactly, so we match the case and terminal side from a label photo.
- Kia Cerato
- Usually a mid-size battery of about 45 to 60Ah. Older cars use a JIS case and newer ones mostly a DIN case, so the year matters.
- Kia K5
- Most take a battery of about 60 to 70Ah. Versions with Idle Stop and Go came with AGM, which has to be replaced with AGM.
- Kia Seltos
- A compact to mid-size battery, usually about 45 to 60Ah. It is easy to reach under the bonnet, and the swap is one of the quicker ones.
- Kia Sportage
- Usually about 60 to 70Ah, AGM where Idle Stop and Go is fitted. Case style differs between generations, so we check the fitted battery.
- Kia Sorento
- A larger battery of around 80Ah for the V6 and the seven-seat versions. Rear AC and a powered tailgate keep the load high.
- Kia Carnival
- One of the largest Kia batteries, about 80 to 90Ah. Power sliding doors and rear climate control draw heavily, and children opening doors with the engine off drains it further.
- Kia Stinger
- The battery is in the boot, usually an AGM of about 80Ah, with jump points under the bonnet. Send the year so we bring the right case.

Kia: common questions
Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.
What battery does a Kia Sportage need?
Most Sportage models take a battery of about 60 to 70Ah, and versions with Idle Stop and Go take AGM. Older generations use a JIS case and newer ones mostly a DIN case with recessed terminals. A photo of the fitted battery is the quickest way for us to match it before coming to you in Arjan or Dubai.
Where is the battery in a Kia Stinger?
In the boot, under the floor trim, not under the bonnet. If the car is flat you do not need to get to it, because Kia provides jump points in the engine bay. For a replacement the technician removes the boot trim, swaps the battery and refits everything in your parking bay.
My Kia was parked for three weeks and will not start. Do I need a new battery?
Not always. A newer battery that has only been drained by the alarm and electronics often recovers after a jump start and a good drive. An older one, or one that dropped very low in the heat, usually does not. We test cranking strength after the jump and tell you which case yours is.
Which battery brands do you fit on Kia cars?
For Kia we usually suggest Mobis, the parts brand of Hyundai Motor Group, or the Korean brands Sebang and Solite, with Bosch as a further option. Each comes with a warranty of up to 24 months depending on brand and type, and we send the choices on WhatsApp before the technician sets off.
Can I pay for a Kia battery with Tabby or Tamara?
Yes. We accept cash, card, Tabby and Tamara, so the cost can be split into instalments. The amount depends on the battery size and type your Kia needs, and it is confirmed on WhatsApp before anyone drives to you. Delivery and fitting in Arjan are free.
