The short answer

Car maintenance in Arjan is booked through Arjan Battery on WhatsApp or by phone. A service covers engine oil and filter, air and cabin filters, fluids, brakes, tyres, belts and a battery and charging test, matched to your car's service schedule. Small jobs are done where the car is parked; bigger services go to a workshop with pickup and drop-off from Arjan arranged.

Routine maintenance is the dull part of owning a car and the part that prevents most breakdowns. In Dubai the schedule has to allow for heat, dust and hours spent idling with the AC on, none of which show on the odometer. We work to your car's own service schedule and add the checks that this climate makes necessary.

Signs you need it

  • Service reminder or spanner light on the dashboard
  • The last service was more than a year ago, whatever the mileage
  • Engine sounds rougher, or the oil on the dipstick is black and thin
  • AC airflow is weak or smells musty
  • Registration renewal and the RTA test are coming up
  • You bought the car used and have no service record

What the job covers

  • Engine oil and oil filter change with the grade your engine specifies
  • Air filter and cabin filter inspection or replacement
  • Coolant, brake fluid, power steering and washer fluid checks
  • Brake pad, disc and tyre inspection, with pressures set
  • Battery test: resting voltage, cranking health and alternator output
  • Belts, hoses, lights, wipers and a scan for stored fault codes

A maintenance year in Dubai

  1. Before summer

Coolant level and strength, radiator fan, AC performance, tyre condition and a battery test. Heat finds every weak part.

  2. Peak summer

Tyre pressures checked monthly on cold tyres, coolant level watched, wipers and washer fluid ready for dusty days.

  3. After summer

A second battery test. A battery that came through the heat may have lost much of its capacity, and the test shows it.

  4. Before registration renewal

Lights, tyres, brakes, wipers, horn and leaks checked, so the car goes to the RTA test ready.

  5. Every oil interval

Oil, filter and a full walk-round inspection, by distance or by time, whichever comes first.

What gets checked at a service

  • Engine oil level and condition, the oil filter, and any leaks from the sump or gaskets.
  • Air filter, which clogs with sand far sooner here than the handbook interval assumes.
  • Cabin filter, the usual cause of weak AC airflow and a dusty smell.
  • Brake pad thickness, disc condition and brake fluid level.
  • Tyre tread, sidewall cracking, age and pressures, including the spare.
  • Battery and charging system, with the readings given to you.

Why Dubai counts as severe use

Most owner's manuals carry two schedules, a normal one and one for severe conditions. Severe usually means hot weather, dusty roads, short trips and long idling. A car that lives in Arjan and does the school run, the office and the mall ticks all four. Following the severe schedule is not over-servicing here; it is the one written for this use.

Time matters as much as distance. A car that covers very little still idles in car parks with the AC on, and its oil, coolant, brake fluid and rubber parts age by the calendar. That is why a service is due by months as well as kilometres, and why a low-mileage car can still need one.

Minor and major service

Names and contents vary by maker. This is the usual split; your car's schedule decides the details.

Minor serviceMajor service

Air filterInspected, cleaned or changedChanged
Cabin filterInspectedChanged

Brake fluid and coolantLevel checkedChanged if due by schedule

Keep the record

Ask for the list of what was changed and keep it with the registration card. A dated service record makes the next fault quicker to diagnose, since we know how old the plugs, fluids and battery are. It also helps when you sell, because a buyer's inspector will ask for it.

How Car maintenance works at your door

No app, no account. One message is enough.

  1. 1

Send your pin and your car

WhatsApp your live location with the make, model and year, or call. In a basement, add the tower name and bay number.

  2. 2

Get the price and arrival time

We reply with the battery options that fit, the full price and how long the van will take. Nothing moves until you say yes.

  3. 3

    We test before we fit

The technician checks the old battery and the alternator first. If a jump start or a clean terminal fixes it, that is what you get.

  4. 4

    Pay and drive

Cash, card, Tabby or Tamara at the car. Your warranty of up to 24 months arrives on WhatsApp before the van leaves.

Typical time at the car: 15 to 25 minutes.

The Patrol would not start in the tower basement before work. The technician found the bay from the pin and level number I sent, tested the old battery and showed me the reading before changing it. He took the old one away with him.

  • JamesMotor City, Volkswagen Tiguan

My Tiguan has start-stop, so I asked if it needed an AGM battery. He checked the one fitted, confirmed it was AGM and fitted the same type, then coded it with a scan tool. Clear explanation of what he was doing at each step.

I thought the battery was finished because the car was slow to start. He tested the battery and the alternator and said the battery still had life in it and only needed a proper charge. He did not try to sell me a new one.

I left the interior light on overnight. I sent my location on WhatsApp early in the morning and the car was running again before I had to leave for work. He told me to drive it for a while so the battery could recharge.

My car had been parked for three weeks while I was travelling and it was completely flat. The technician jump-started it, then checked the charging voltage with the engine running to make sure the alternator was doing its job.

The car would not start in the office car park at lunchtime. He replaced the battery while I went back to my desk and sent me a photo of the charging reading when he was done. The invoice has the warranty period written on it.

My car did not start after my night shift. The technician jump-started it and tested the battery. He said it was weak and would probably need changing soon, but he left the decision to me.

Car maintenance: common questions

Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.

How often should I service my car in Dubai?

Follow the severe-conditions schedule in your owner's manual. For many cars that means an oil service at shorter intervals than the normal schedule, by kilometres or months, whichever comes first. Send us the make, model, year and mileage and we will tell you what is due.

Can you service my car at my building in Arjan?

Small jobs are done where the car is parked. Work that needs a lift, such as a major service with fluid changes underneath, goes to a workshop with pickup and drop-off from Arjan arranged. We confirm which applies to your car on WhatsApp before booking.

What should I check before the RTA passing test?

All lights including number plate and brake lights, tyre tread and age, wipers, horn, brakes, oil or coolant leaks, window tint within the legal limit and no warning lights on the dash. A check a few days ahead leaves time to fix anything.

My car is under agency warranty. Can I service it elsewhere?

Read the warranty booklet first. Many warranties require services at the stated intervals with approved parts and proof of the work, and some require the dealer. If your car is still covered, ask the agency in writing before you service it anywhere else.

Does a service include a battery check?

Yes. We measure resting voltage, cranking health and alternator charging output, and give you the readings. UAE heat commonly wears a battery out in about 2 to 3 years, so battery testing at every service is how you find a weak one before it fails in a basement.
