The short answer
Car AC gas filling in Arjan, Dubai, is booked through Arjan Battery on WhatsApp. It is a full recharge for a system that is empty or has been opened for a repair: the old refrigerant is recovered, the system is held under vacuum and leak-tested, then filled with the exact weight of R134a or R1234yf printed under the bonnet.
Gas filling is the last step of an AC repair, not a repair in itself. After a new compressor, condenser or hose, or after a leak has emptied the system, the pipework is full of air and moisture. Both have to come out before refrigerant goes in. Otherwise the new parts corrode from the inside and the cooling never reaches what it should.
What the job covers
- Recovery of any remaining refrigerant by machine, not vented to the air
- Deep vacuum to boil out air and moisture
- Vacuum-hold leak test before any gas goes in
- Fresh compressor oil of the correct type, with UV dye
- Charge by weight to the under-bonnet label
- Vent temperature and pressures checked afterwards
Signs you need it
- The system was opened for a compressor, condenser, evaporator or hose
- A leak was found and fixed, and the system is now empty
- The compressor will not engage because the pressure is too low
- The vents blow outside-temperature air with no cooling at all
- Front-end accident repair replaced the condenser
Why a full fill is not a top-up
Air and moisture are the enemies of an AC system. Moisture reacts with refrigerant and oil to form acid, and it can freeze at the expansion valve and block it. Air raises the pressures and takes up room the refrigerant needs. Only a vacuum pump removes them. The receiver-drier, a canister of desiccant, should also be renewed when a system has stood open.
The second reason is weight. Each car takes a set amount, on most cars somewhere between about 400 and 900 grams, more with rear AC. A little too much or too little changes how well it cools. A pressure gauge cannot tell you how many grams are inside, so the only way to hit the figure is to start from empty and weigh it in.
The filling procedure
- 1
Identify
The label under the bonnet gives the refrigerant type, the charge weight in grams and the oil type.
- 2
Recover
The machine draws out what is left and weighs it, which shows how much had leaked.
- 3
Vacuum
A pump pulls the system into deep vacuum, typically for 20 to 30 minutes or longer, so moisture boils off and is carried out.
- 4
Hold test
The valves are closed and the gauge is watched. A needle that creeps up means a leak is still open, and filling stops here.
- 5
Oil and dye
A measured amount of the correct compressor oil goes in, with UV dye so any future leak can be traced.
- 6
Charge and test
The exact weight is charged, then vent temperature and both pressures are read with the engine running.
R134a and R1234yf
These are the two refrigerants in cars on UAE roads. They are not interchangeable.
Terms on the job sheet
- Evacuation
- Pulling the system into vacuum with a pump to remove air and moisture before filling.
- Charge weight
- The grams of refrigerant the system was designed for, printed on the under-bonnet label.
- PAG oil
- The compressor oil in most belt-driven systems. It comes in several viscosities, and the label says which.
- POE oil
- A non-conductive oil for the electric compressors on hybrids and EVs. PAG oil in those systems can damage the insulation.
- Receiver-drier
- A canister of desiccant that traps moisture. It is renewed when the system has been open to the air.
- UV dye
- A fluorescent tracer in the oil that glows at a leak point under an ultraviolet lamp.
Gas in a leaking system is gas on the road
If the vacuum will not hold, we stop and find the leak. Filling anyway cools the car for days or weeks. Then the refrigerant is in the air and the compressor is running short of oil again. Canned top-ups with stop-leak additives can also gum up valves and contaminate service machines.
How Car AC gas filling works at your door
No app, no account. One message is enough.
- 1
Send your pin and your car
WhatsApp your live location with the make, model and year, or call. In a basement, add the tower name and bay number.
- 2
Get the price and arrival time
We reply with the battery options that fit, the full price and how long the van will take. Nothing moves until you say yes.
- 3
We test before we fit
The technician checks the old battery and the alternator first. If a jump start or a clean terminal fixes it, that is what you get.
- 4
Pay and drive
Cash, card, Tabby or Tamara at the car. Your warranty of up to 24 months arrives on WhatsApp before the van leaves.
Typical time at the car: 15 to 25 minutes.

Car AC gas filling: common questions
Not answered here? Ask on WhatsApp. A person replies, at any hour.
How do I know which AC gas my car uses?
Open the bonnet and look for the AC label, usually on the slam panel or the underside of the bonnet. It names the refrigerant, R134a or R1234yf, and the charge weight. If the label is missing, send the make, model and year and we check before the job is booked.
How long does car AC gas filling take?
On a sound system, recovery, vacuum, hold test and charge usually take about 45 minutes to an hour. Most of that is the vacuum, which should not be rushed. If the hold test shows a leak, the time depends on where the leak is and which part has to be replaced.
Can R134a be used in a car built for R1234yf?
It should not be. The service ports are different on purpose, the oil and the charge weight are specified for the original gas, and a mixed system cannot be recovered by a normal machine afterwards. We fill with the refrigerant named on the car's own label.
Is AC gas filling the same as a refill or top-up?
Not quite. Gas filling here means starting from empty: recover, vacuum, leak-test and weigh in the full charge, as you would after a repair. A refill is the lighter job for a system that has slowly lost some gas over the years. That one is on our AC gas refilling page.
Can AC gas filling be done at my building in Arjan?
It depends on the job. A full fill needs a recovery and charging machine, and a system that has just been repaired is normally filled where the repair was done. We tell you on WhatsApp if it can be done at your parking or goes to the workshop with pickup and drop-off.
