Heat is what wears out automatics in Dubai
Transmission fluid is designed to work within a temperature window. Crawl along Hessa Street or Al Khail Road in August with the AC on and the fluid sits near the top of that window for long periods. Hot fluid oxidises, darkens and loses the friction properties the clutches rely on. Shifts turn lazy first, then harsh.
Many makers describe the fluid as filled for life, but the same handbooks often list a shorter interval for severe use, and hot weather with heavy traffic is severe use. We check the fluid before recommending anything. Clean red fluid at the right level needs nothing. Dark fluid that smells burnt tells us the clutches are already wearing.

What limp mode means
When the control unit sees a fault it cannot work around, it locks the transmission in a single gear, often third, and lights a warning. Switching off and on may clear it for a while. The fault code stays stored, so have it read soon and tell us what the car was doing when it happened.

Is transmission fluid really lifetime in Dubai?
Treat that with caution. Many handbooks that say filled for life also give a change interval for severe conditions, which includes hot climates and heavy traffic. Check your service booklet. We test the fluid's colour, smell and level first and only recommend a change when the fluid or the schedule calls for it.
Should an old transmission that was never serviced get a fluid change?
It depends on the fluid's condition. If it is dark but the car drives well, a gentle drain and refill is usually the safer route than a pressure flush. If the transmission already slips, new fluid will not repair worn clutches. We check first and tell you plainly what to expect.
Can I drive in limp mode to the workshop?
A short, slow trip is usually possible, but it loads one gear and builds heat. From Arjan we would sooner collect the car. Message us with your location and we arrange pickup, or recovery on a flatbed if the car will not move.
How should an automatic car be towed?
