Living a short hop from the office sounds ideal for a car. For the battery it is the opposite. Starting the engine uses a burst of energy, and the alternator needs a decent run to replace it. A drive that ends before the cabin has cooled leaves the battery a little lower each day.
The fix is not complicated. Take the car for a longer drive once a week, and have the battery tested once it passes two years. A resting reading of about 12.6V means it is healthy. If it has dropped to around 12.2V after a night parked, it is half charged and worth a closer look.
