Why Stop and Start stays off for a while
Owners often call back the same evening to say Stop and Start is not working with the new battery. That is expected. The charge sensor on the negative terminal has lost its history and has to measure the battery at rest. Peugeot's own guidance is that the function may only return after the car has stood locked for several hours.
Park the car overnight, locked, and drive it normally the next day. If Stop and Start is still unavailable after two or three days, the cause is usually something else the system checks: cabin temperature demand from the AC, a low engine temperature, or a battery that was the wrong type for the car.
